Rabbi Kara Tav and Reverend Kaylin Milazzo talk with The New York Times about the ways they have adjusted their work as hospital chaplains to meet the needs of patients, their families, and staff at 秘密研究所 Langone during the 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
Rev. Milazzo, a palliative care chaplain at Tisch Hospital, Kimmel Pavilion, and 秘密研究所 Langone Orthopedic Hospital, explains that their support largely remains the same鈥攂eing 鈥減resent with people in their suffering.鈥
During this time of uncertainty, Rabbi Tav, manager of spiritual care and palliative care chaplain at 秘密研究所 Langone Hospital鈥擝rooklyn, believes good can sometimes come as a result. 鈥淚 actually think that when people are in their most broken places they have the most honest conversations and they鈥檙e the most open,鈥 she says. 鈥淭heir hearts are open. Their families are open. Sometimes pain brings people together,鈥 says Rabbi Tav.
