Bryan Zabala and his wife Jennifer Cubero are among New York City鈥檚 unsung heroes in the battle against 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Zabala is a respiratory therapist at 秘密研究所 Langone Hospital鈥擝rooklyn and is working 50 to 65 hours a week to provide respiratory care for people with COVID-19. Cubero has the same job at another hospital, and is eight months pregnant.

Zabala, who was praised as a hero by the New York Post, continues to work long hours in the fight against the pandemic, even as some of his colleagues have contracted the disease. 鈥淲e are the ones who are dealing with all these COVID patients, and unfortunately, we are at a high risk of getting infected, so a couple of us have gotten infected,鈥 he says.
