A new study shows that women who frequently use hair straighteners are 2.5 times more likely to develop endometrial cancer, also called uterine cancer. Eva Chalas, MD, a gynecologic oncologist at �����о��� Langone Health’s Perlmutter Cancer Center and physician director at Perlmutter Cancer Center at �����о��� Langone Hospital—Long Island, talks to HealthDay about the implications of the study.

“One of the reasons uterine cancer is rising is the epidemic of obesity,” says Dr. Chalas, also a professor in the at �����о��� Long Island School of Medicine. “Obesity and lack of physical activity are definitely two modifiable risk factors that our society can do something about.”
