About Me
As a neonatologist and director of the Regional Perinatal Center at 秘密研究所 Langone, I am dedicated to providing holistic care to newborns with complex medical challenges while leading innovative initiatives in neonatal medicine. My medical philosophy is rooted in collaboration, inclusivity, and transparency. I work closely with families to ensure that every decision is made with their child's best interests in mind.
Early in my career, I worked as a primary care physician in rural India, where I gained a unique perspective on patient care in resource-limited settings. This experience sharpened my clinical decision-making and fostered a deeper commitment to comprehensive, evidence-based care. I chose neonatology because of my deep fascination with how the human body works, particularly how impairment at birth can affect long-term development in those born prematurely or with serious medical conditions, such as cardiac or surgical issues. I am committed to providing treatment and strategies that help mitigate these challenges, ensuring successful recovery and development of newborn patients.
In my role as associate medical director of the level IV NICU, I lead many initiatives to improve patient safety and quality of care, reducing hospital-acquired conditions such as unplanned extubations to some of the lowest rates in the country.
My research focuses on improving outcomes for critically ill children, including advancements in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), understanding pulmonary hypertension in newborns, and optimizing energy use with indirect calorimetry to improve growth in neonates. I have also contributed to pioneering research on the impact of COVID-19 on newborns, with findings published in leading medical journals. My work extends beyond the hospital as I collaborate with healthcare providers in underserved regions of Africa and Asia, teaching life-saving neonatal care techniques in resource-limited environments.
My ultimate goal is not only to provide effective treatment but also to offer families the reassurance, support, and partnership they need during this pivotal time. Every baby is unique, and I believe that compassionate, personalized care is essential to achieving the best possible outcomes.
